If you use a blank image, though, you can select your own color through the Apple color picker each time your mood changes. But you'll have to create a swatch for each color you wish to use. You could, of course, do this by creating an image swatch of the color you wish to use and then using "Tile" to fill the screen with it. When I switched to Center mode and chose a color, though, the chosen color covered 100% of the desktop. When I dragged this into the image well, the desktop went white. ![]() I then saved it without doing anything to it at all. I used Photoshop Elements to create a new 1x1 pixel TIFF image. ![]() but if the image you use is a "nothing" image, then you get a desktop covered with the color you chose. Of course, this just gets you a small image in the middle of your screen surrounded by the color you picked. As the AI background editor is exposed to more and more photos, its ability to handle yours. If you select Center, you'll then get a color swatch that, when clicked, displays the standard Apple color selector. Trained on millions and millions of real world images, not artificial lab data, the Clipping Magic Auto-Clip AI background remover handles so much more than just a few cherry-picked foreground categories. ![]() In 10.2, when you use a non-screen-sized image in the Desktop prefs picture well, you'll see a pop-up menu offering choices for what to do with the image: Fill Screen, Stretch to Fill Screen, Center, and Tile. Starting with a hint submitted by abrin523 and after some follow-up emails, he and I have figured out a fairly simple way to have a color picker available to create a solid background in any color you'd like to use. Each transparent GIF can be instantly downloaded by clicking the "Save as" and "Download" buttons.Apple provides 10 or so solid colors to use as backgrounds in the Desktop system prefs panel, but what if you wanted a different shade? There appears to be no way to pick a solid color other than the 10 provided. To see all the transparent pixels at a glance, you can turn on the black and white filter, which displays transparent areas in black color and all opaque areas in white. In this case, you can use the "Show One Frame" option that will pause the GIF player and display only the requested frame. Next, click on Select on the left-hand side of the bar located at the top of your page. Sometimes, you need to see how one particular frame looks like. Open the image you wish to use in Paint on your computer. You can also turn on the built-in GIF player and view the transparent GIF frame by frame. To make all frames transparent, enter the "*" symbol. Frames that will be made transparent can be listed as "1, 2, 6" or specified as a range "2-5". By default, the application makes all GIF frames transparent but if necessary, you can remove the color only in the specified frames. By increasing or decreasing the threshold value, you can control the transparent color's tint, tone, and shade. The color can be entered as a name ("blue"), hex or RGB code ("#0000FF" or "RGB(0, 0, 255)"), or selected via the attached color palette in options. When you specify the color that should change to the transparent color, then it matches this color everywhere in the GIF. ![]() As a bonus, our app also allows making any GIF region transparent (not just the background). For example, if your GIF has a red background, then you can enter "red" or hex code "#FF0000" in the transparent color field, and this red background will be assigned the transparent color index, which will make it disappear from the output GIF. This is a browser-based program that creates GIF animations with a transparent background.
